The legal framework of companies consists of the:

  • Companies Act 2001,

  • Financial Services Act 2007,

  • Financial and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2002, the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2002 and the Prevention of Corruption Act 2002.

By adopting the best international practice principles in formulating new legislation, the Government has made Mauritius a very attractive place conducting global investments.
The legal framework governing trusts and companies is among the most modern of all jurisdictions. Mauritius has adhered to the new international requirements, with a view to tracking money laundering and combating terrorism financing and has enacted the Financial and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2002 and the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2002 in this respect. In 2003, Mauritius joined the Egmont Group which enhances the image of the jurisdiction.
